What to know about EasyJet, a pioneer of low-cost aviation

Founded in 1995 by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, a Greek-Cypriot entrepreneur, EasyJet got its start in Luton, England. The initial vision was straightforward: make air travel accessible to more people through competitive fares and streamlined operations. Inspired by the low-cost models found in the United States, Haji-Ioannou launched EasyJet with just two Boeing 737 aircraft, connecting London to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The goal was to meet the growing demand for affordable mobility without compromising on safety or reliability.

Rapid growth and an international network

In less than three decades, EasyJet has become one of the most recognizable airlines in Europe. It now serves more than 150 destinations across 35 countries, with a fleet of nearly 300 aircraft, primarily Airbus A320 models. Specializing in short and medium-haul flights, EasyJet links major cities, business hubs, and primary tourist destinations.

The company has also diversified its services to meet various needs, including flexible tickets for business travelers, priority services for faster boarding, and bundled offers that include hotels and car rentals. This strategic development allows EasyJet to cater to both professional and leisure travelers.

Strategic presence in major European airports

EasyJet maintains a firm footing in many major European airports. Its primary hubs include London-Gatwick, Paris-Orly, Milan-Malpensa, and Berlin-Brandenburg. This positioning allows it to offer convenient flight schedules and optimal connectivity across Europe. Furthermore, the airline often prioritizes major airports over remote secondary ones, a choice that sets it apart from some low-cost competitors.

Values focused on innovation and sustainability

EasyJet aims to become a leader in aviation sustainability. The company actively invests in ecological initiatives, including the use of sustainable fuels and projects aimed at reducing its carbon footprint. Additionally, it participates in research on electric aircraft, demonstrating its commitment to a more environmentally conscious future.

A unique customer approach

EasyJet's pricing strategy is built on a clear policy that avoids hidden fees for essential services. With options like seat selection, priority boarding, or adding baggage, customers can customize their experience without facing unexpected costs.

This transparent model, combined with accessible customer service, reinforces EasyJet's position as an airline that seeks to simplify travel while meeting the needs of a diverse public. Through its spirit of innovation and rigorous management, EasyJet remains a central player in low-cost aviation.

True low cost, but reliable

easyJet is a go-to airline in France for traveling on a budget.
I have flown with them three times without ever running into a delay, which is much appreciated.
Just be careful to double check your luggage size before boarding.
On board, the service is standard for a low cost carrier: everything costs extra, but the tickets can be a great deal depending on the time of year and the destination.

A pretty reliable low-cost airline

I often take EasyJet to visit Europe (Italy, Portugal, Greece, Croatia). Their travel options are interesting and the prices remain fair. Just like with Transavia, their direct rival, you obviously have to add the cost of meals and bags, which quickly adds up. I still prefer Transavia for the comfort level, but both are about the same. I have never had any issues on my flights and customer service is easy to reach. A small downside, EasyJet does not accept pets.

The ideal choice for flights in Europe

I have never had any problems with EasyJet, even though it is a low cost airline. You know the seats won't be very comfortable, that service will be kept to a minimum, and that there won't be anything to eat. For short flights in Europe, it is sufficient. When I had a delay of more than 3 hours, I was quickly compensated.
Recently, I have noticed an increase in prices. They are also getting stricter and stricter about the size of carry-on luggage...

Not bad, but not the best

Convenient departures from Paris-CDG to Marrakech, at prices that are often competitive but with bare-minimum service. In terms of service for often similar prices, I prefer Transavia, which operates the same route from Paris-Orly. Also, watch out for the flight times on the cheapest tickets. It is not always easy to catch a plane that takes off at 6:00 AM!

Affordable and safe

EasyJet is low-cost, a company with spectacular prices. The plane was in very good condition, drink service was perfect but not free ;) The flight attendants are in proper orange uniforms and are smiley. Takeoff and landing were smooth. Ultimately, a good price for good safety ;)

Better than Ryanair

Minimum service for sure, but solid organization and smiling staff. I didn't feel the stress like I do with Ryanair, who really treat their customers in a pitiful way. I recommend EasyJet over Ryanair or even Air France for the occasion!! Valerie

Not bad for a low-cost airline

For me, EasyJet is not bad for a low-cost carrier, which unfortunately is not the case for Ryanair :(

They mean business

EasyJet is a reliable low-cost airline. That is to say, the planes are new, fairly clean, and the staff is not too unpleasant. Unlike Ryanair, which really treats its customers very poorly. The only problem with EasyJet is that it is more expensive than Ryanair.

Not always a good deal

Well, after checking the fares for Paris to Nice, Air France is actually cheaper than them!!! And with more flight options, I'm surprised.

Toulouse to Milan

A low-cost European airline, the advantage is that flights are scheduled at the main airports of large European cities unlike Ryanair, which is practical if you do not want to waste too much time getting to the secondary airports served by Ryanair.
Like other low-cost airlines, every option is charged at a very high price!!
The problem is also that flight cancellations and reschedules are frequent.

Money wasted because of a delay

I booked a flight with easyJet from Toulouse to Paris to catch an international flight afterward. Since the flight was excessively delayed, I followed the advice of the easyJet ground staff and took another flight with Air France to arrive in time for my second flight. I was assured that I would receive a credit for a future flight with this company. Something they refused despite numerous attempts to file a claim. Frankly, with Air France, the rates are just as competitive if you book in advance. Plus, the services are better and the staff is much more respectful. EasyJet has vaccinated me for life against low-cost airlines.

Avoid flying with EasyJet

Do not take flights with EasyJet. This company does not respect schedules or customers. Since it started, we have noticed a decline in the level of service and their policy is just to take your money. If you manage to catch your flight 5 hours late or more, it is not their problem, even if you are sick or on an emergency family trip........yes for paying cheap, but no to getting scammed by a company that does not deserve its place in the market...a traveler who is speaking out.

EasyJet - Never again!!

Hello, we just got back from a trip to Geneva this weekend and we are so disappointed with our experience using EasyJet. We had checked in online, but I couldn't get the boarding passes to print. I sent them an email since they are impossible to reach by phone, and the only message I got back was one saying that because of the volcano, they were trying their best to respond to various requests... uh, for your info, the volcano is over!

Then, at security, my husband got searched (really thoroughly!!) and they checked all of his carry-on luggage. They confiscated my jar of cream simply because the label said it was a 200ml jar, even though inside (and they saw and checked it three times!!!!!!!!!) there was at most 5ml left. Let me tell you, I didn't just let it slide, but despite lots of arguments and attempts that went nowhere, they simply threw the jar away! Can you believe the waste?!!! However, they told me that if I paid €15 (almost the price of the jar of cream), I could ask to have it put aside until Sunday... what a joke!

Our trip started with over an hour of delay, and we ended up taking off at 6:30 PM for a flight scheduled for 5:10 PM! As for the return, they kept us waiting until 9:15 PM for a flight originally scheduled for 7:35 PM... yes, really! All this while only telling us that information would come at 7:35 PM, then at 8:00 PM, then at 8:30 PM, ending with an announcement for a 9:15 PM flight. Of course, don't bother trying to get information from anyone... there was nobody there!

It is simply shameful! I've searched on forums, and I only see positive reviews. I'm starting to wonder if they don't pay their employees to spend their time posting positive things about their company?!
