Easily accessible and, above all, very welcoming, Mauricie National Park is just like the rest of Quebec: 100% nature and 100% family-friendly. Camping, hiking, canoeing, fishing, it is a paradise for true nature lovers. I traveled through this park with young children in the fall, but I imagine winter must be really nice too for skiing, among other things. A must-visit!

It is truly the image you imagine when you think of the beautiful Canadian wilderness, with its forests, mountains, crystal clear waters, and animals. For serious hikers, go without kids so you can walk, climb, and explore without holding back.

Less known, less crowded, but twice as big as the neighboring Banff park, Jasper National Park doesn't have much to envy it for. The landscapes, first of all, are just as magnificent. The mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests are all there. I recommend the Icefields Parkway, it is simply beautiful (make sure to bring something to stay warm for the cold). The animals, then. The park is truly huge, and outside of the summer season, the human presence remains low. You have a good chance of spotting wild animals like elk (large North American deer), or even bears. Bonus, which I didn't have the luck to see for myself: the Northern Lights. Apparently, you can see them!

Depending on the time of day, the weather, and where you are, you will never stop being amazed by what nature has put on display in this huge green setting. From the clear lakes (meltwater?) where the sun and mountain peaks are reflected, to a forest that smells deliciously of pine in some spots, and a few animals if you are lucky... Such a beautiful memory!

The park is near Tobermory, but you definitely need a car to get there. We spent the day along the park's trails. There are some really lovely walks to do depending on your fitness level. The routes alternate between scenery with lake views and trails in the woods. Two tips: remember to check the info before heading out because some hikes take all day! And also bring water bottles, which we unfortunately didn't do during our hike.
