Less known, less crowded, but twice as big as the neighboring Banff park, Jasper National Park doesn't have much to envy it for.
The landscapes, first of all, are just as magnificent. The mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests are all there. I recommend the Icefields Parkway, it is simply beautiful (make sure to bring something to stay warm for the cold).
The animals, then. The park is truly huge, and outside of the summer season, the human presence remains low. You have a good chance of spotting wild animals like elk (large North American deer), or even bears.
Bonus, which I didn't have the luck to see for myself: the Northern Lights. Apparently, you can see them!
