#1 Bastei Bridge (Lohmen)
The Bastei Bridge is a massive sandstone structure built in 1850 within the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, a nature reserve in southeastern Germany. These eroded rock pinnacles draw hikers and climbers alike. The area has been accessible since the early 19th century via the Malerweg (Painters' Way). An original 1826 wooden bridge led to the medieval Bastion castle ruins.
