Lake Sainte-Croix is an absolute must-see spot right at the exit of the Gorges du Verdon. For me, I loved alternating between hiking and swimming on a summer day! The advantage is that you can find everything around here. You can rent a kayak, take a dip, admire the surrounding countryside... As a bonus, the Pre-Alps mountains create a fantastic backdrop that reflects in the colorful water!

From June to September, water sports come to the mountains, perfect for the whole family. The water isn't always very warm because this lake is of glacial origin, but it is very refreshing on hot summer days. For those who prefer hiking to swimming, like me, there is plenty to do. I always find a new hiking trail starting from the lake, a trail that sometimes lets me enjoy a prime view of the lake and the town of Gérardmer. A real breath of fresh air. During our last visit, we enjoyed the reflections of the setting sun on the lake during a family picnic, it was magical!

I discovered Lake Annecy during the Annecy Marathon in April. The course runs along the western part of the lake all the way to Doussard, offering a sporty way to discover the surroundings. Even for non-marathoners, the scenery is magnificent and everything is designed for a pleasant and refreshing stay.

Lake Salagou is the perfect spot for swimming in the summer. The water temperature is perfect, neither too cold nor too warm. The place is truly magnificent, with its red earth that gives it all its charm. The only small downside is that it is a bit of a drive from Montpellier for a day of swimming, but hey, it is clearly worth it!

Guerledan Lake, the largest artificial lake in Brittany at 12 km long, is in my opinion a must-visit spot for nature and adventure lovers. Surrounded by superb hiking trails, it also offers climbing spots and several nice beaches for swimming. It is an ideal setting for a trip in a van or motorhome, with many peaceful spots all around the lake to fully enjoy the Breton landscape.

The mysterious atmosphere of this place really intrigued me, and I have to say it lives up to its reputation! Its beauty is dazzling, and you get the feeling that it is a gateway to another world. You cannot swim in it (but given the depth, I would not exactly want to anyway). Regardless, I guarantee you there is plenty to do with the trails around the lake!

One of the most beautiful lakes I have ever had the chance to visit. I still remember the colors, the unique shade of the water. I was fascinated by the Saint-Michel chapel on its island in the middle of the water (accessible on foot depending on the season). It gives the place a very poetic feel. You can go swimming, go boating... In terms of activities, you will have plenty of choices.

This lake is a must-visit if you are looking for an extraordinary hiking spot. Keep in mind that you cannot swim here, as it is a refuge for many animal and plant species. However, I highly recommend visiting and walking around the area. There are trails suitable for everyone and plenty of spots to relax! I felt completely recharged.

When you see this big lake in the middle of nowhere, it feels like you are discovering a lunar landscape! It is a great reward once you arrive. I do recommend this hike to those who have a bit of experience. You have to walk for an hour from the shepherd's hut parking lot, and the trail is winding at times. I have never done it in the winter, but it must be a magical experience too since it is frozen with snow.

Lake Gérardmer offers plenty of activities. You can easily walk or bike all the way around it. You can also go boating, rent a pedal boat, try paddleboarding, or go for a swim in the summer. It is a really nice spot to spend a day with the family. I recommend going when the weather is nice, as it will be much more enjoyable.
