65 meters of clearance over the Hautes-Pyrenees
Built between 1859 and 1863, the Pont Napoléon overlooks the gorges of the Gave de Pau at a height of 65 meters. It is from this bridge that Laurent, a pioneer of bungee jumping in France, has been organizing jumps for over three decades. The Pyrenean setting adds a rare visual dimension to the experience.
The session breakdown
Upon arrival, the team takes charge of every participant. You get a safety briefing, full equipment with attachment to both feet and a harness, and then it is your turn on the platform. The jump can be done solo or in tandem (two people strapped together, 150 kg maximum combined weight). A t-shirt is included for every jumper. Photo and video options are available on-site to document the experience.
What sets this site apart
The instructors participated in the development of the AFNOR (French standards association) safety regulations for the activity in France, which shows a serious level of technical rigor. The option to perform a second jump on the same day or to follow it up with a course of 16 ziplines (available in July and August) makes for a full half-day for thrill seekers.
The bridge is located about 30 minutes from Tarbes and Lourdes, making it convenient to combine with a stop in the region without extending your travel time.
