A vacation resort at the foot of North Sea dunes

Sunparks Oostduinkerke aan Zee is located on the Belgian coast, near Nieuport and about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Dunkerque, France. Its location offers plenty of activities both on and off the property. If you love the sea, the wild beaches and dunes of the Flemish coast are right at your doorstep, accessible on foot or by bike (rentals available on-site).

Take some time during your visit to explore the Westhoek region, its polders, and the town of Nieuport, a historic fishing and yachting harbor in the Low Countries. A 15-minute drive gets you to Plopsaland amusement park, the most visited attraction in Belgium.

Activities for the whole family

The resort features the Aquafun heated indoor water park, which is included for free with your rental. It includes a wave pool, several slides, including the black hole (featuring light effects in the dark), outdoor pools, and a lazy river. Children will enjoy Kids World, also included with your rental, a massive indoor space with various play areas. Dozens of other activities, not included in the rental package, are available on-site or nearby: bowling, archery, laser tag, tennis, bike rentals, and billiards.

If you are looking for relaxation, you can book treatments at the West Coast Wellness center for an extra fee, including massages, saunas, and steam rooms.

Dining at the restaurant or at home

Several bars and restaurants are open on-site, allowing you to grab a drink or enjoy lunch and dinner on the terrace or inside. You can also pick up groceries at the local bakery or supermarket and prepare your own meals in your equipped kitchen.

2 categories of individual cottages

The rentals are divided into select vacation homes, which offer simple and basic amenities, and exclusive vacation homes, which feature more comprehensive comforts. Capacity ranges from 2 to 8 people, with sizes between 50 square meters (538 square feet) and 85 square meters (915 square feet). All cottages have a private garden with patio furniture. Please note: bed linens and towels are optional for select cottages but are included as standard in exclusive cottages. The latter also include the benefit of a dishwasher and an infrared sauna.

Beach lovers in the north will be thrilled

On the North Sea coast, with sandy beaches and dunes nearby, this vacation village is in a really great spot. The heated pool is super handy for having some fun, even when the weather is bad.

Great location... but that's it

Right by the sea, tons of bike paths, and not too far from cities worth exploring like Bruges, the location is ideal for a relaxing weekend getaway... but as for the rest, the rooms, the bathroom, and even the complex itself, I expected better considering the price.

Not very well maintained but nice setting

The cottages could really use a refresh, and the cleaning could have been better when we arrived... Plus, a lot of the available activities cost extra. Aside from that, the location is great. Beyond the aquafun, you can get some fresh air around the lake or down by the beach.

Great deal at Center Parcs

It seems a little less new than other Center Parcs, but there are some honestly interesting deals, and if you like the big sandy beaches of the North Sea, you will be happy! In just a few minutes by bike, or even on foot, you have your feet in the sand, and in the water for the bravest ones.

Not too expensive but a bit too crowded

They regularly have some good deals, and it is pretty well located near the coast and northern France. On the other hand, the place and its surroundings are very crowded with tourists, so do not go expecting an escape into the middle of the wild :)

A nice little vacation park for a weekend

Great location for enjoying the North Sea coast. If you are worried about the cold, there is a large heated indoor pool with a tropical lagoon vibe. As for the accommodations, the cheapest options are really basic, and the staff is not necessarily available. It is up to you to do the cleaning during your stay.

Poorly cleaned accommodation but beautiful surroundings

Maybe we just got unlucky, but we found the accommodation wasn't very clean. There was stained bedding, dishes that we had to re-wash, and a bathroom with sand grains lingering in the corners.
I imagine it is not like this all the time, but it gave us a mixed first impression.
Fortunately, other than that, the stay went very well. Everyone loved the water park and the beach.

Close to the sea

Having visited other Center Parcs, I think this one really needs to renovate its water park. It is starting to feel a bit old, and not very clean. In the more recent ones, the immersion in a natural environment is more realistic.
Other bad experiences, we sometimes felt like we were bothering some of the employees with our requests. Maybe because we did not speak Flemish? Fortunately, most of the staff were smiling and friendly! And besides, there were a lot of French people and French speakers, so no need to panic.
There is still a lot of positive: the proximity to the sea, you can take walks on the beach, lots of bike paths, some good surprises with the restaurants, and good fries! The lake gives the grounds some charm.
