Campsite
A family campground on Lake Raviège, with cottages, mobile homes, and tent and RV pitches
The location
The campground sits on the shore of lac de la Raviège, on rue du Pont de la Lune in La Salvetat-sur-Agout (Hérault), deep inside the Haut Languedoc Regional Park. Bikes and canoe-kayaks are available on site, so you can get down to the water without getting back in the car. Hiking, horseback riding and climbing are all on offer in the surrounding area. To pin it on a map, the coordinates are 43.601 N, 2.687 E.
Rooms and comfort
The campground offers three ways to sleep: 20 cottages, 24 mobile homes and 18 pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes. The rentals are billed as fully equipped, with a kitchenette in each. Pitches are individual and shaded, which helps keep things a little cooler in summer.
Food and drink
The cottages and mobile homes each come with an equipped kitchenette, so plan on cooking for yourself. For groceries and restaurants, you'll need to head into the village of La Salvetat-sur-Agout.
An equipped barbecue area makes it easy to grill and eat outdoors.
Services and extras
Mountain bikes and canoe-kayaks are free for campers to borrow, enough to get you down to Lac de la Raviège without ever moving the car. Paddleboarding is also something the whole family can try. Hiking, horseback riding and rock climbing are all available nearby.
The campground accepts payment with ANCV vacation vouchers (chèques-vacances), a French holiday-voucher program.
We spent a short stay at Camping Les Cèpes in La Salvetat-sur-Agout, and we loved it. Located near Lac de la Raviège, the campground offers mobile homes as well as bare pitches for tents and caravans.
It's a small campground with a very family-run feel and a warm welcome. There are plenty of sports activities you can do on your own, including mountain bike rentals to go explore the area.
One small downside: the campground is built on a hill, which means some pretty serious climbs to get around the site. Luckily, the setting is worth it!
