About this property

Accommodation category

Village de vacances

In the summer of 2015, the Vienne region debuted the fifth Center Parcs in France, specifically the Domaine du Bois aux Daims. Straddling the towns of Les Trois-Moutiers and Morton, this property is located 70 km from Tours, Angers, and Poitiers. It sits less than 90 minutes from the popular Puy du Fou and Futuroscope theme parks. The park is now well established and continues to draw families with its focus on reconnecting with nature, where animals are central to the experience.

A wide range of sports and nature activities

As with any Center Parcs location, there is no shortage of things to do. This park goes beyond the standard tennis, bocce, archery, and mountain biking. It distinguishes itself with tai chi, microlight flights, ice skating, Zumba, rock climbing, Nordic walking, and morning fitness classes. Its forest setting and 25-acre wildlife park offer plenty of opportunities for direct interaction with nature, including high-ropes courses, horseback or carriage rides, bird shows, and a petting zoo where little ones can feed lambs or goat kids. If you prefer water to land, the Aqua Mundo water park features a unique Cenote Pool, where you can swim alongside massive aquarium tanks.

Accommodations: cottages or treehouses

The woods are home to treehouses, which are a major draw here. These treehouses provide everything needed for a memorable stay, including a terrace at the canopy level with a view. You will also find traditional comfort, premium, and VIP cottages. These fully equipped units accommodate 2 to 12 people and feature contemporary wood designs, large bay windows, and terraces where you might spot deer roaming nearby.

Dining

When it comes to food, there are 5 restaurants, a delivery service for breakfast, pizza, or hot stone grill meals, and a catering service. There is also an on-site supermarket so you can cook your own meals just like at home.

The treehouse, a super experience

We stayed at this Center Parcs as a family in one of the treehouses. It looks vaguely like a big cabin from the outside, but the inside is totally livable. It is actually cozy with all the woodwork everywhere. It is a real pleasure to just hang out on the terrace with the tree branches as your backdrop. As for activities, we spent a lot of time at the Aquamundo (included in the price) and did quite a few bike rides (rental extra).

Staying in a treehouse

I chose this Center Parc to try out the treehouse. The whole family loved it, and we had a really great stay. Don't go thinking it's a DIY shack without water, electricity, or proper sealing, etc. No, all the comforts are there, with warm wooden decor. Stepping out onto the terrace and being right in the branches is a top-notch experience.
Next, the Aqua Mundo is really good. A small disappointment regarding the Cenote Pool: you don't actually swim among the fish, they are in aquariums visible from the pools you are swimming in.

Great weekend

Huge property surrounded by forests, with real deer that are more or less wild and actually come right up to the bungalows. A small disappointment: I thought that in the Cenote Pool, you could swim among the fish, but no, the fish are behind glass windows.

A bit pricey but a cool spot

You really get the feeling of being in touch with nature while still having all the modern comforts. It is a shame that it is so expensive, otherwise I would go more often.

Well laid out

At first, I thought I would find something very artificial and consumer-driven, but in the end, I discovered that you are right at the edge of nature. With a little walking or biking, you find yourself alone in the forest and you forget about the presence of other people. The Aquamundo is perfect for having fun with the kids. There is a whole assortment of other activities available, but they often cost extra.
As for the meals, it is pretty mediocre in terms of quality or quantity relative to the price.

Modern and spacious

Not exactly easy to get to, and a car is highly recommended, but this resort has the advantage of being well integrated into nature and the forest. There is plenty of space in the bungalows and between them, so you don't feel like you are stepping on each other's toes.
The leisure dome is modern and offers quite a few activities. I loved being able to swim with tropical fish in the "cenote." The activity is surprisingly free, and they can even lend you a mask. Well, outside of Covid times, of course.

Great way to clear your head

If you want to take a break and clear your head without making life complicated with logistics, gear, or long-distance travel, I think this is a really great idea.
Well, if you are coming with a large family and have to pay for a bunch of activities for every kid, or eat full meals at the restaurants, it can end up getting very expensive.
You might want to brief the kids beforehand :)
Oh, and "Bois aux Daims" is not just a name, you are actually going to run into some deer.

Good for a weekend, nothing more

Aqua Mundo is nice, but you eventually get tired of it. If you want to do anything else, you have to reach into your wallet, unless you go for a walk in the forest. For meals, it is pretty much the same deal. If you want anything other than the very basics, it quickly gets very expensive.
In short, I would say it is worth spending a weekend there, but any longer and it becomes either boring or expensive.

Nature with all the modern comforts

The unique thing about this Center Parcs is that the bungalows are spread out in a forest area where deer roam free. Having breakfast on your terrace while watching the deer walk by, it was a magical moment.
Same thing with horseback riding in the middle of the trees, the whole family loved it.
Finally, the tropical water park is top notch and included in the package. There are a lot of other activities, but they cost extra and the bill adds up quickly, especially if you come with several children.

Plan your activities and logistics in advance!

To start with the negatives, I see a few:
- If you book your stay through sites like Booking, you cannot book activities before arriving on-site at the reception. And once you are there, it can take time, and you have to be sure of your choices because changing an activity or changing a time slot means you have to go back through the reception and that can take even more time.
- The dishes served in the restaurants are not of a quality that justifies the price.
- Cottages are not very well maintained: A bit of dust here and there, fingerprints on the windows, and furniture that is sometimes a bit old-fashioned.
- Permission management via a wristband that has its pros and cons: when checkout time arrives, it deactivates immediately...

Now, there is still plenty of positive:

- Activities for all tastes and ages, outdoors, in the water, indoors, during the day, in the evening...
- Enthusiastic and friendly staff
- Accommodations that, even if they could be better maintained, are spacious, comfortable, and very functional!
- Proximity to nature and animals (the deer, it is not just a name, you will see them for real!)
- Bike rides around the grounds
- All the indoor and outdoor pools: fun guaranteed!
- The spa, complete and modern
