My perspective is that of a young French-African man born and raised in Paris and the surrounding area. What I can say about Paris is that it is a cosmopolitan city, but it is more of a fruit salad than a melting pot. Every community (the term is inaccurate, at least for Black people) lives in its own bubble, and there is very little interaction. There is a real social (and racial?) divide in Paris, where, except for popular neighborhoods like Châtelet and Bastille for example, people do not look past your style of dress, your social background, or your skin color.
