Relatively little known, Battambang is actually one of the most important and oldest Cambodian cities.
I really liked the old town, the colonial houses dating from the French era, the central market, the pagodas, and the riverbanks, which you can visit by boat. It is interesting and pretty authentic, as the locals go about their lives without worrying too much about tourists.
