Hotelbeds Group as the parent company
Hailing from Spain, Hotelopia is just one of many online hotel booking sites out there. While it lacks the name recognition of the industry giants, it is backed by Hotelbeds Group. This travel technology firm runs a distribution platform that allows travel agencies and airlines to secure lodging for their clients. Having been part of the TUI Group from its inception in 2001 until September 2016, Hotelbeds Group now operates independently and manages several sub-brands, including Hotelopia.
Convenience, security, and competitive pricing: the Hotelopia formula
While this European hotel booking hub keeps a relatively low profile, it offers plenty of value. You will find a wide range of accommodations, from standard budget options to 5-star hotels, apartments, and luxury villas. They cover major tourist destinations worldwide, with a portfolio of over 70,000 hotels across more than 7,500 locations. The team is constantly adding new spots to their website.
You will often find highly competitive rates on the platform that are not always available elsewhere. Accommodations listed through Hotelopia are frequently priced lower than what you might find on competing sites, and their promotions often undercut the rates you would get by booking directly with the hotel. Plus, new customers can snag a 10% discount just by signing up.
Other highlights include the easy-to-use booking platform, a dedicated, multilingual customer service team that supports 9 languages, and a secure website that protects your payment details and personal information.
These features align with the company goal of helping travelers book rooms as simply and securely as possible, all while keeping costs down.
To round out their offerings and compete with larger sites, Hotelopia also provides car rental services and ticket bookings for attractions like the New York City Pass.
I am very unhappy with the service from Hotelopia. The hotel made me pay for the reservation again, claiming it had not been processed correctly by the Hotelopia site, even though the money had clearly been charged. They are now claiming that the same amount was a supplement for a single room that I never requested. The hotel is clearly at fault here, lying shamelessly to avoid refunding me, but I believe Hotelopia's support is just as dishonest and frankly scandalous, since that is who the reservation was made through in the first place. To date, I have written at least three very explicit emails about the deception I was a victim of, and Hotelopia still supports the Trianon hotel in Amsterdam, which persists in its lies. It is absolutely sickening!
