What to know about Aer Lingus, the Irish national carrier
Historical roots and a long tradition
Founded in 1936, Aer Lingus serves as the national airline of Ireland. Its name, taken from the Gaelic, translates to air fleet. Originally established by the Irish government to grow the country's air links, the airline operated its first flight between Dublin and Bristol. Since then, Aer Lingus has established itself as a major player in air travel, with its headquarters located in Dublin.
The history of Aer Lingus is defined by its central role in developing transatlantic connections, serving as a vital bridge between Europe and North America.
An extensive international network
Today, Aer Lingus offers flights to more than 100 destinations across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. The airline is particularly well-known for its transatlantic routes from its primary hubs: Dublin and Shannon. These airports serve as strategic transit points for connections between Europe and the United States.
Aer Lingus operates a modern fleet consisting of Airbus A320, A321LR and A330 aircraft, focusing on passenger comfort and fuel efficiency. The airline offers services tailored to different types of travelers, with various classes of service: economy, premium economy and business.
Aer Lingus versus the competition
Aer Lingus stands out due to several key advantages:
- Strategic connections between Europe and North America.
- An attractive loyalty program, AerClub, which allows members to earn Avios points.
- Customer service known for its Irish hospitality.
Aer Lingus also prioritizes a sustainable modernization policy, utilizing aircraft that consume less fuel to reduce its carbon footprint.
Hi everyone,
I had a bit of a problem with this airline.
I flew to the United States via Dublin in May. On the way back, when I arrived in Paris, I found my suitcase ripped open, with a side pocket missing. I informed Aer Lingus about this incident, and they asked me to send them my travel tickets and the cost of the lost clothing. Their letter was dated in August. I sent the requested items within 15 days as agreed, and since that date, I am still waiting........ :(
I have sent them 2 letters with no response, and I called the claims line, but nobody picks up. This company is not very professional and cares little about its customers when they are at fault. Keep this in mind when you choose Aer Lingus for your travels.
For me, it is clear, I will never travel on their flights again.
