What to know about Air Corsica
The primary airline of Corsica
Air Corsica was founded in 1989 under the original name Compagnie Corse Méditerranée (CCM). The company was launched by the Collectivité Territoriale de Corse (Corsican Territorial Collectivity) with the goal to facilitate air travel between Corsica and the French mainland. Its headquarters are based in Ajaccio, which firmly anchors its island identity.
Since its inception, the mission of Air Corsica has been to provide a reliable air transport service tailored to the needs of Corsican residents, as well as travelers looking to discover the Island of Beauty.
A service centered on Corsica and its travelers
Air Corsica primarily manages connections between Corsica and the French mainland. It operates from the main Corsican airports: Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi, and Figari, serving cities such as Paris, Marseille, Nice, Lyon, and Toulouse. The company also offers seasonal flights to other European destinations.
Today, the airline operates a modern fleet consisting of Airbus A320 and ATR 72 aircraft, chosen for their fuel efficiency and their adaptability to short and medium-haul routes.
Air Corsica makes it a point of honor to offer frequent schedules, adapted to both professional and tourism needs, and is committed to ensuring a regular connection between the island and the mainland.
The advantages of Air Corsica versus the competition
The island-based carrier distinguishes itself through its local roots and its deep understanding of the needs of Corsican travelers. Unlike other generalist airlines, it focuses on strategic routes for Corsica, meeting the expectations of locals and tourists alike.
Its key strengths include:
-
Frequent flights that make quick round trips between Corsica and the mainland easy.
-
Regularly adjusted fares for Corsican residents.
-
A modern fleet that meets current environmental standards.
Air Corsica aims to provide a reliable and accessible service while promoting the Corsican territory and contributing to its economic development.
A local presence and a future focused on efficiency
Based in Ajaccio and operating out of the major Corsican airports, Air Corsica plays an essential role in the air ecosystem of the island. It continues to evolve by modernizing its fleet and adapting its offerings to the new expectations of travelers, whether they are local or international.
A very practical service, including for residents! Since flights between Corsica and the mainland are short, it is easy to get there in a single day. In my experience, the flights are punctual. The customer service is also responsive and provides good information.
The only downside: flights are not always very frequent depending on the destination, but you cannot have everything!
