Its V-shaped tip shifts with the currents, creating a rare natural spectacle. Fine pebbles, crystal-clear water, watersports, and shaded pine groves define the landscape. Access is free, just a 20-minute walk from Bol.

The site hosts cultural events like Shakespeare performances and served as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

Blending Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles, it now houses the Cultural History Museum. Tour the rector's apartments, council rooms, and former prisons to see how this city-state functioned.

This beach is a must-see in Croatia, and it is even considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is true that it is magnificent. However, its fame makes it a super touristy spot. During high season, you have to arrive early to find a place to set up.

It is hard to miss the Port of Split since it is located right next to Diocletian's Palace. I have mixed feelings about the place. It is very pleasant in the evening for walking around and admiring the boats, but it suffers from overtourism during the day when the big ferries dock. If you are planning a trip to the islands, it is the essential place to go. Once you are there, there is a ticket office for several cruise destinations and some good restaurants.
Overcrowded and poorly maintained

I wanted to take a little break on this beach, the only sandy one in Split. It was really not relaxing at all! It is small, so it gets crowded fast. The beach is neither monitored nor cleaned. As a result, between the crowds, the plastic, and the cigarette butts, it is hard to find a spot to put down your towel. While the sea is still beautiful, I do not recommend stopping at this beach, especially not with kids.

An old Catholic cathedral, Saint Domnius impresses more with its octagonal shape than its relatively modest size. It houses relics, but above all, it offers a magnificent view of the old town from the top of its bell tower. Entrance to the cathedral and the bell tower requires a ticket. However, there are combination tickets available (cathedral, bell tower, treasury). In my opinion, the treasury is not essential.

With its very well preserved Roman walls and architectural monuments, Diocletian's Palace surprises you with its massive enclosure and splendor. The Peristyle, a beautiful courtyard lined with columns, remains its best spot. Unfortunately, it is also the hottest and most crowded. I recommend visiting in the early evening instead. The interior of the Palace holds many other treasures, notably the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and the city museum.

I didn't find the Baroque facade exceptional, but I went inside the monument anyway. A few works caught my attention, especially the Assumption of the Virgin painted by Titian. The cathedral treasury, which you have to pay for, holds relics of Saint Blaise displayed in magnificent cases. Otherwise, there is nothing special to see. It remains a fairly sober and modest religious building.

Even though there is not much left of the original fountain, which has been largely rebuilt, this structure with its surprising polygonal shape is worth a quick stop, if only to cool off, since the water is drinkable. The fountain gives the city a little Italian vibe with its sixteen famous masks, even if it stays far from Roman majesty. I first admired it from the city walls, which offer a nice perspective of its orange dome. Stop by on your way to the old town to fill up your water bottle.
