The Leaning Tower of Pisa is impressive, even without going inside. From the outside, you really wonder how it is still standing. The site is very photogenic, even if there are almost always a lot of people around. It is worth seeing if you are in the area, but it is not necessarily a must-see on its own. I much prefer an extended visit to Florence, which is full of charm and cultural riches.

This bridge is pretty surprising and is definitely one of the must-sees in Florence. It is charming and really well preserved. Just like back in the day, it still houses many shops. Take your time crossing it, as there are often a lot of people using it.

The Ponte Vecchio is really unique and I was looking forward to seeing it in person during my stay in Florence. But the jewelry shops built directly on the bridge are overpriced and not worth it. On the other hand, the view of the Arno and the building facades remains very beautiful. I recommend it, even if walking across can be a bit of a pain because of the crowds.

This is a monument you shouldn't miss if you're traveling in Tuscany. I still wonder how it stays standing, because the tilt is more pronounced than I imagined. I visited in the late afternoon and with the fading light, it was beautiful to see. With uneven steps, the climb is pretty tiring, but getting to the top is really worth it. Remember to book your tickets well in advance and don't bring young children, who won't be allowed to climb. Right next to the tower, the Piazza dei Miracoli also houses a beautiful cathedral and an impressive baptistery.

I spent an entire afternoon in this magnificent palace. It is impossible to see everything in just a few hours, so you unfortunately have to make some choices. For me, the Palatine Gallery is a must. I was amazed by the Italian paintings, especially the works by Raphael and Titian. I also loved the royal apartments section, which features sumptuous furniture and decor. I finished with the Costume Gallery, which is quite unique, and I highly recommend it if you are interested in Italian theater. After the visit, the Boboli Gardens offer a lovely setting, very pleasant for relaxing at the end of the day.

Easily accessible ruins. Honestly, I did not find anything exceptional, especially compared to the Grotte complex. Since they are located near the port, you can still take a look if you are curious. It makes for a nice walk along the water. Just do not expect breathtaking ruins.

Seeing it from the ferry as we arrived made me want to visit it even more. Be careful, it is a climb to get there and you have to drive to access it. Once you are there, it is clearly worth the effort. For the view, of course. But also for the building itself, which is exceptional. Wild grass has grown in some spots, which gives it an even more romantic feel.

First things first: the Roman villa is reduced to ruins. This visit should therefore be taken more as an exploration in nature. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. Once that is said, it is indeed a walk in a pretty extraordinary setting, with a magnificent view of the sea. There is an entrance fee but all things considered it is very affordable.

All of Florence summarized in one bridge: a covered art gallery, luxury jewelry stores, a view of the Arno river... It is a distillation of art and romance and a beautiful glimpse into the fortune of wealthy 21st century Florentine families. To fully enjoy the bridge and its surroundings, go admire it from afar from the windows of the Uffizi Gallery, which offers a unique view!

The Florence Cathedral is impressive for its grandiose architecture and massive dimensions. The facades in white and green marble colors are simply sublime. It is a must-see, and it attracts huge crowds. But you absolutely have to go. Just the exterior is worth the trip. If you have the time, you should also visit the interior. I also loved wandering through the adjacent streets.
