182 meters of empty space above the Verdon: the highest bungee jump in Europe
Built between 1938 and 1940 to connect the two banks of the Artuby, the Pont de Chaulière (Chaulière Bridge) towers 182 meters above the turquoise waters of the Gorges du Verdon. This is the site of the most vertigo-inducing bungee jump in Europe, set within a protected natural landscape of rare intensity.
How the day unfolds
Participants check in at the bridge between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Since the jump order is determined by arrival time, it pays to be an early bird. Plan for the entire day, as wait times can be significant during the peak summer season. Once you have been fitted with your gear and briefed on safety protocols, you face the jump into the void above the river. After the jump, the return climb requires navigating a steep, unpaved trail. Expect 30 to 45 minutes of exertion. Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and bring a water bottle.
What to know before you book
The activity is open to anyone 15 years or older. Minors must provide parental consent. Participants over 55 must present a medical certificate dated within the last 3 months confirming they are fit for the jump. You must weigh between 50 and 130 kg (about 110 to 287 lbs). The site complies with AFNOR (French Standardization Association) safety standards. You are welcome to bring your own GoPro, and a professional video service is available on-site. Tandem jumps are not permitted.
Arriving when the site opens at 9:00 am is your best bet to jump in the morning and avoid the long afternoon lines, especially on summer weekends.
Who it is for: Adrenaline junkies, groups looking for a shared challenge, bachelor or bachelorette parties, or anyone wanting to push their limits in a dramatic natural setting.
Less suitable if: You have heart or joint conditions, you are not comfortable with the physical effort required for the hike back up, or you are looking for a quick activity without any wait time.
Opening hours
Open on Sundays from April to November, as well as Saturdays in July and August during school breaks. Arrive on-site between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM (the order of jumps is determined by arrival time).
How long for this activity
