History and architecture
Aqua Mundo opened in 2017 as part of the Village Nature project, developed by industry giants Center Parcs and Euro Disney. While the goal was to build a water-based theme park, it also presented an architectural challenge. The goal was to make the building blend into its surroundings. Architect Jacques Ferrier designed a tiered structure using wood and glass, resembling an origami shape or a giant seashell unfolding toward the sky.
One of Europe's largest water parks
Giant is an understatement looking at the numbers. The facility covers 9,000 square meters, split between 2,500 square meters outdoors and 7,000 square meters indoors, reaching a height of nearly 35 meters. It is a true architectural feat that visitors can explore all the way to the top via terraced, landscaped walkways.
With a capacity of up to 2,800 bathers, Aqua Mundo focuses on 4 water zones. These include bubbling areas (jacuzzis), entertainment zones (wave pool, experience river, water tree, splash pads, lagoons), relaxation areas (spa), and high-thrill sections (giant slides, aquatic climbing wall).
Activities that match the scale
Key attractions include the Tour de l'Eau (Water Tower) and Tour de l'Air (Air Tower), housing 7 slides ranging from standard to adrenaline-fueled. Another highlight is the Parcours Le Roc, an aquatic climbing path full of obstacles. For a calmer experience, the spa features a salt cabin, steam room, sauna, and relaxation area with tea service.
A wide range of additional activities is available by reservation, such as aquabiking, aquajumping, water polo, and infant swim classes. The facility also provides standard services like locker rooms, showers, a photo shop, and snack bars.
Finally, the Avygeo editorial team has selected the Aqua Mundo at Village Nature as one of the best family activities near Paris.
