Dolce Frégate Provence Golf Club at a glance
Located in southern France, less than an hour from the Marseille Provence airport, the Dolce Frégate Provence Golf Club features a 4-star hotel and an impressive vineyard estate. It sits in a quintessential Mediterranean landscape of garrigue scrubland, olive trees, and the azure sea as a backdrop. Built nearly two decades ago by the noted American golf course architect Ronald Fream, the property includes an 18-hole course, a 9-hole course, a five-level academy, and a practice range.
Widely considered one of the most scenic courses on the coast, the main 18-hole Frégate course offers 15 ocean views and is best suited for experienced golfers. You can find hole-by-hole strategy guides from the club's pro on their website. The Frégalon course, tucked into the surrounding pine forest and protected from the wind, is perfect for beginners or a more relaxed round. With a lower handicap requirement of 1 to 8, it still provides a challenge.
The club is well-equipped, offering electric carts and both manual and electric pull carts for rent. If you are traveling light, you can reserve full sets of men's or women's clubs for both left-handed and right-handed players. The practice range, open every day except Tuesday, allows you to hone your skills with 30 mat stations and 5 practice greens.
The club frequently hosts corporate events and attracts a primarily domestic clientele. If you are not a golfer, you can spend your time on the tennis courts, take a dip in the indoor or outdoor pools, or visit the spa.
A course that is certainly very difficult, but with exceptional views of the sea. It is very well maintained and the staff always makes sure to disturb the players as little as possible.
It is highly recommended to use a golf cart or an electric trolley to get around the course because of the elevation changes.
