Visiting Reims Cathedral
Archbishop Aubry de Humbert initiated construction in 1211 following a fire that leveled the previous Carolingian structure. The main structural work reached completion by 1275. For centuries, the history of Reims Cathedral was marked by its famous labyrinth, which occupied the floor bays until 1778. Designated as a World Heritage site, the cathedral holds a massive collection of 2,303 statues. This is the site where 24 French kings were crowned, continuing a tradition that began with Clovis.
Historic cathedral for the country where the Kings of France used to be crowned. It is among the most beautiful cathedrals in France. If you are in the area, it is a must-see in Reims, just as much as the Champagne cellars.
