⚠️ VERY PROBLEMATIC EXPERIENCE WITH OPODO ⚠️

I am posting this message publicly because despite numerous follow ups, the situation remains at a standstill.
Opodo confirmed a refund for me following a flight issue. To this day, this money has still not been paid out to me. The weeks are passing and customer service just gives me vague answers or stops responding altogether.
It is totally unacceptable to keep a customer's money when a refund has already been approved (we are talking about €960!).
Without a quick resolution to this case, I will be forced to report this situation to the DGCCRF, the European Consumer Centre France, and start the necessary procedures to assert my rights.
I am leaving one last opportunity here for Opodo to settle this case quickly and proceed with the refund that is owed to me.
Otherwise, I will continue to make this situation public to prevent other consumers from ending up in the same situation.

Case references: flights TYCJ4C and SGETGA. Transavia issued the refund to Opodo on 12/19/25.

Flight canceled, fees not refunded

I booked flights 4 months in advance. There was a cancellation by the airline a few hours before. Opodo is keeping 75 euros in service fees. What service??

A great way to compare and book flights

I have used Opodo several times to compare flight prices and make bookings. To get the discounted rates, you have to subscribe to Opodo Prime (8 euros/month). Opodo then displays the discount you get, but watch out, it is often misleading. If you go directly to the airline's website, it can be a bit more expensive than the price offered by Opodo, without it being significant (sometimes, it is within ten euros). Since the Opodo subscription is monthly, do not forget to cancel it if you do not use it regularly, otherwise the small savings you made are quickly turned into a loss.

I have never booked a trip, so I cannot comment on hotel reservations. The customer service does not really inspire confidence.

Scam, fake address for Mont-Saint-Michel

Watch out! Opodo combines addresses to lure you into booking the Hotel Le Mouton Blanc at Mont-Saint-Michel (50), but actually has you book a hotel with the same name located in Cambrai (59). Furthermore, the location Cambrai never appears in any confirmations or other communications. Opodo does not acknowledge their mistake, which has happened many times according to the Hotel Le Mouton Blanc at Mont-Saint-Michel. Many tourists like me showed up at Mont-Saint-Michel on the day of the reservation only to find out the hard way.

OPODO SCAM HOTEL NOT BOOKED AND NOT REFUNDED UNACCEPTABLE

I booked a hotel through the Opodo platform, but when I arrived in Crete, the hotel hadn't been reserved!

I had to pay for my hotel night, and it has been a month and a half now, and they still haven't refunded me!

A little cheaper, but less peace of mind

Heads up, if you run into any issues with your bookings, like a delayed flight or even a cancellation, filing a claim with Opodo is very difficult, and the processing times for cases are very long.

It is cheaper (a little cheaper than elsewhere, though not exactly bargain basement), but it is riskier in a way...

Good if you have no problems

I have regularly booked airline tickets with Opodo because their rates are very attractive. I also like their color-coded system to adjust flight dates based on the lowest price. The only negative point I have noticed is the lack of transparency regarding certain prices, which end up being higher. These are the famous "prime prices" that make you think the flights are cheaper. Aside from this detail, I have never needed to contact customer service due to a problem, so I do not have any negative feedback on that.

Personally, I have never had any problems with Opodo. I have always bought my tickets through them and it has always gone well.

It is still shocking to read all these negative comments!! I will stay on my guard, though.

Opodo, total scam, stay away at all costs

OPODO, A HUGE SCAM, BEWARE !!!!

Watch out. After 30 days of the OPODO Prime trial, you get charged €54.99 per month!
And it is very difficult, if not impossible, to stop because they charge the credit card used for the ticket purchase.
It is literally theft, a pure scam, because when you want to unsubscribe and you click on "unsubscribe," the home page appears. You think you are unsubscribed, but that is far from the case!
You have to go on Google and go to the OPODO site, re-enter your access codes, and unsubscribe. They will ask you if you are sure you want to unsubscribe 4 times, and they will tell you that if you unsubscribe, you will lose your flights, even though they are already paid for. It is a scam and theft in its purest form.

WARNING: after a day or two, OPODO will call you from the United Kingdom (in English, obviously) to tell you they are offering you a measly 40 euros, and that you have 3 days to use it on a future flight, provided you sign up for their Premium application again (so they can charge you the monthly subscription fees again).

If you do not speak English, they send you an email explaining that, given the increase in ticket prices, they are offering you a measly 40 euros.

After doing some research:

The site contains all the services offered by OPODO Limited, a limited liability company under English law, with its registered office located at 5, Chancery Lane, Clifford's Inn, London EC4A 1BU, England, registered in the Companies Register of England and Wales under number 4051797 ("OPODO").

OPODO holds a travel agent license issued by the Secretary of State for Tourism under number L.P.S. 02 001 and a financial guarantee (number 17583) issued by the bank Barclays Bank Plc, whose branch in France is located at 45, bld. Haussmann, 75009 Paris.

OPODO has taken out professional civil liability insurance with CB Insurance Services General Limited located at 26, High Street, Woking, Surrey GU21 1BW and undertakes to maintain it for the entire duration of its activity.

SCAMMERS, LIARS, INCOMPETENT. STAY AWAY.

I am echoing what another user said:
"Warning about OPODO

Be careful, OPODO cleans out your savings that you worked so hard to set aside for your vacation.

My adventure is just one of thousands of others, and this company is just the visible part of a vast scam organized by Go Voyage, which includes many other online travel agencies like Edream, Sodigeo...
Thousands of testimonials from victims are all over search engines (just type 'OPODO scam' or simply 'OPODO reviews' into Google for example).
Even though they use web companies to bury their misdeeds, there are so many of them that it is impossible. The executives are drowning in victim complaints that they try to calm down from time to time... whoever is the most persistent and waits the longest might be able to win their case after a few years.
Despite the numerous lawsuits in every European country against their organized scam, this web of companies keeps growing thanks to tens of millions of euros obtained through their misdeeds."

As for me:
Like many people at the start of the COVID crisis, our trip in May 2020 was canceled. An email in June 2020 informed us that we had flexible tickets as well as a €15 gift voucher that we would receive in a second email. To start with, we never received that gift voucher.
In September and then October, reminder emails said we had flexible tickets to use, still with the info about that €15 voucher. No second email, of course.
In November, I started the process of using these tickets. It is not possible on the app, you have to call. After hours on the phone explaining that "no, I am not the one who canceled the flight and you sent me emails saying I was entitled to flexible tickets," I finally reached the step of ordering new tickets. To make the process easier, I chose the same destination with the same flight times, but of course with different dates. On the Air France website, the tickets are less than €1000 (my tickets are worth €1105.96), but at the moment of confirming, the phone agent tells me I have to add €800!! Unacceptable. So I let it go and asked for a refund. No news. We let another wave of the health crisis pass so we wouldn't "bother" them. In March 2021, an email informed me that Air France was refunding us in the form of a credit. I do not have any code to use these credits, I cannot do anything on the app, and I cannot reach them. I checked the app at random in February 2022 and it indicated that a refund request had been in progress since December 2021. I tried to communicate via the app chat in March 2022, and there, they told me they were processing a refund request (so a new request??) and asked for my bank details. No news since...

OPODO warning

Be careful. OPODO carries out massive raids on the savings you worked so hard to set aside for your vacation.

My adventure is just one of thousands of others, and this company is only the visible part of a vast scam organized by Go Voyage, which includes many other online travel agencies like eDreams, Sodigeo, and more. Thousands of testimonials from victims are swarming on search engines (just type "OPODO scam" or simply "OPODO reviews" into Google for example). Even though they use web companies to bury their misdeeds, there are so many of them that it is impossible. The executives are buried under complaints from victims they try to calm down from time to time. Whoever is the most persistent and keeps at it the longest might be able to get a result after a few years. Despite the extremely numerous lawsuits in every European country against their organized gang fraud, this nebula continues to grow through tens of millions of euros in investments obtained through their misdeeds.

Regarding my story, it was a family trip recently organized for Morocco (February 2022) at a price of €3700 ($3990) for flight and hotel. To be safe, I gave in to their FLIGHT + HOTEL insurance offer, which was billed to me at €180 ($194). Unfortunately, a positive Covid test forced me to cancel the trip.
(Customer file 8816828501)
I immediately rushed to cancel on the OPODO site where the booking was made. First, I noticed a surprising message telling me they would process my request as soon as possible, which was a sign of concern given that I was supposed to leave the next day. When I received a message the next day from the airline Transavia regarding instructions before takeoff, my concern grew. I contacted Transavia to ask why they were sending me these messages since my flight was canceled the day before. To my great surprise, the airline told me that no cancellation had been made and that it was not refundable anyway.

I then contacted OPODO to ask for explanations, which I managed to reach after 30 calls over 48 hours, and they replied that they would only refund me when the airline refunds them. I told them that since the airline is not refunding, there is going to be a problem. Furthermore, I took out €180 insurance with OPODO to avoid getting into complications. I added that I bought my tickets from OPODO, not from Transavia. They told me to please read the general terms and conditions of sale. Basically, they sell cancellation insurance that has no effect in case of cancellation. This insurance sale only serves to build the customer's confidence to get them to spend money without actually being insured for anything.

I took the opportunity while still on the phone with customer service, which took 48 hours to reach an agent, to ask them to start by refunding the hotel portion (€1400 / $1510) while waiting for us to settle the problem of the flight portion (€2300 / $2480). The agent replied that despite my stipulated flight and hotel insurance, the hotel portion would not be refunded. I was completely stunned by the answers, then I hung up, feeling totally dumbfounded and in despair. I decided to contact the hotel to ask if they had indeed received my cancellation from OPODO. The hotel replied that they had received absolutely nothing. So, I told them that this booking needed to be canceled because I was not coming and that OPODO, who was in charge of informing them, had not done their job. They replied, "no problem, but it is possible that the first night is still due."

I called OPODO back, which I managed to reach after a day of trying to call, and asked them: "How is it that you offer a FLIGHT + HOTEL insurance that I paid €180 for, only for you to say later that the flight is only refunded if the airline refunds it (even though they do not refund), and regarding the hotel, you do not refund at all. Furthermore, no cancellation was made to either the airline or the hotel. I add that I spoke to the hotel, which told me the worst-case scenario would be the charge for the first night, and you tell me the hotel is non-refundable despite my supplementary insurance." The OPODO agent replied by repeating, "The flight will be refunded to you when we are refunded, and the hotel is non-refundable even if you took out the insurance and even if the hotel does not collect anything, because we did not book it ourselves but through another company that does not refund."

A week after my cancellation, the status of my request in my customer account is stuck on "cancellation requested" and is not even at "cancellation request sent to the airline" yet. You have to see it to believe it. I also requested my invoice three times and still have not received it, despite a message that appears during the request saying "your invoice will reach you via email within 24 hours." The malfunctions are countless and intensely disturbing.

Decidedly, I am beginning to understand that OPODO, while posing as an online travel agency, is actually just a facade putting all its efforts into taking the maximum amount of money and only offering you surprises when you finally realize you are stuck in a trap where the exit is completely barricaded.

I am investigating everyone behind this organized gang fraud in order to publish their names on all international social networks. I will do it in the respective languages of each country because this must stop. I will also contact newspapers in all the countries concerned as well as television channels, always with respective translations, so that the broadcast is well-spread throughout the world.

I will not stop filing my complaints on the appropriate websites and warning the public on review collection websites, and also gathering as many victims as possible to carry weight against this OPODO scam machine. I will never stop until this company compensates me and as long as it continues to scam consumers.

The executives will be personally taken to court and prosecuted for their failure to meet their responsibilities and their nonchalance toward victims. Other actions by legal professionals are also underway.

This must stop as soon as possible.

Great prices and no issues with Opodo

For my part, I went through Opodo to book a Paris to New York flight in May, and I had no issues. It was on Opodo that I found the cheapest price for a round trip with a major airline, Lufthansa. I correctly received confirmation emails, my e-tickets by email, and links to pages detailing the formalities to follow for traveling to the USA. In short, I am satisfied with Opodo's services. Low-cost flights via Opodo

Hello. We just made a reservation via OPODO for RYANAIR. I booked some Ryanair flights on 09/26 and everything seemed OK! I didn't receive any email informing me of a problem as Opodo promised, and I even received an email last Wednesday, 10/25, informing me of the current status of my booking with a reminder of our times and booking references! In short, everything was going well!

Fortunately, just to be safe, we called RYANAIR, who told us that no, we weren't on their flight at all! In a panic, we recontacted OPODO, who then said we had to make a new reservation (for 400 euros more). We accepted, having no other choice since our rental in Mallorca was already partially paid for. Just when we thought we had solved the problem in the morning after hours on the phone (on premium rate lines, of course), that evening, for no reason, we found an email announcing the cancellation of this new reservation for a technical reason!

And of course, when I call, they say it's RYANAIR's fault, claiming they refused for no reason, even though our bank account was funded and there were still seats on the plane since we finally bought them this morning from one of OPODO's competitors!

"Hidden" airport transfer costs

Hello,

We bought round-trip tickets from Lyon to Dakar, via Paris, for X euros. Once the ticket was paid, of course, you realize that you also have to pay an extra 20 euros for the transfer between CDG and Orly. At no point on the Opodo site are you told about this extra cost, so they are clearly minimizing the ticket price on purpose.

After X emails, a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, and X phone calls, they treat you like an idiot with empty responses. On the phone, they hang up on you for no reason (already mentioned several times on this forum).

To be continued.

Thanks
